Has anyone experience a long respond time when running report?

Anyone experience a long respond time when running report? Not sure what is happening. We have few reports took long time to load.. The table we running report against has couple of reference fields. We selected the fields wanted to display by dot-walking from the reference field.On the selected column, dot-walk from the reference field. About 6 fields value were dot-walked. Couldn't that possible be the reason of it taking a long time to generate? It show timeout or took to long to run (red cross) that we have to cancel the operation.

It could be an issue with large tables that don't have Indexing of the columns that are being used in the filter (Condition Builder). It's the conditions on a report that can cause a long time for the query to respond.
