Hi there,
Ever had trouble quickly seeing which instance you are on? Probably yes, and actually quite often! Sure, your instance theme and css will be different or you selected a different out-of-the-box theme for every instance your on. Though, still with multiple browsers or multiple tabs open, it's hard to quickly know what the right window actually is.
A small heads up to make your ServiceNow life a little bit easier!
What we came up with... could we change the favicon? Sure you can. Actually, there's a perfect Docs page for this.
Knowing changing the favicon is possible, can we apply different favicons to identify our instances? This is what we came up with...
Cool isn't it? Different favicons which quickly tell you which tab is which instance!
The first example is at one of our customers, where orange is their primary-branding for production, we applied green as primary-branding for their test environment, and we applied blue as primary-branding for their development environment.
The second example is just to give a different idea. Also very easy to identify all the tabs.
Additionally to the favicon, you could also define the Browser tab title. Just navigate to:
System Properties > Basic Configuration > Browser tab title.
To preserve the changes made to the favicon when cloning your instance from production to sub-production environment, do add some Clone Data Preservers.
1) Have the images for production, test, development on all your instances;
2) Add Clone Data Preserver for table System Property [sys_properties], Conditions Name is glide.product.icon [name=glide.product.icon]
