Recently I completed CIS - Event Management exam and I passed successfully. I'll articulate the steps I followed to clear the exam, and hope this will help the readers of the post as well.
Exam Blueprint
- Go through the exam blueprint in ServiceNow's website. As of today, the blueprint is in Paris I'll update the post once Quebec certifications are launched.
- There are 30 questions and you'll get 60 mins
- Questions are either multiple choice or multi select
- Questions appear one after another and you can mark the question to review before submission
- The question are distributed as follows:
- Event Management Overview - 4 Questions
- Event Management Architecture and Discovery Concepts - 4 Questions
- Event configurations - 10 Questions
- Alert configurations - 9 Questions
- Event Management connectors - 3 Questions
Key Steps for Preparation
- You should have sufficient knowledge in basic administration and development in ServiceNow and at least 6months hands-on experience in ITOM area. I've been working as a ServiceNow Developer/Architect for more than 7years and implemented ITOM for multiple customers, so it was an added advantage. But, for others make sure you have sufficient hands on experience in NOW Platform.
- Go through the eBook provided during training. Complete all the labs that's given in the book. Try to understand each concepts around events, alerts, connectors etc.
- Optionally complete the CMDB Fundamentals course, that will help you to clear some key concepts
- Optionally complete Operational Intelligence to have a better understanding of ITOM Health
- Log analytics is coming as an added feature in Quebec. Read release notes for added advantage in Quebec exams.
- Try to search CMDB and Event Management 'Free' courses in NOW Learning. That will help you greatly in preparation.
- Don't completely rely on dumps or study materials shared in 3rd party websites. They will help you in preparation but never guarantee the success.
Key Study Materials and sample questions
I'm listing down the key study materials I read, and that has helped me a with the exam.
- eBook from Self-Paced material or shared during the paid training with ServiceNow. That book is absolute truth for the exam, try to read each and every topic, comprehend, understand and practise with hands on labs, That's your key to success. 90% of the preparation will be done just by doing that.
- There are 3 Quizlets which will help you a lot in the preparation. But please go through the book before you go through the quizlets.
- 10 Sample questions (don't rely on the answers though) - https://www.processexam.com/servicenow/servicenow-cis-em-certification-exam-sample-questions
- Another link for sample questions (don't rely on the answers) - https://www.dumpsbase.com/freedumps/servicenow-event-managementem-cis-em-exam-dumps.html
