In today’s world of hybrid work, the ability to find answers and get things done quickly and easily from any device empowers people to do their best work. Similarly, the ability to request and deliver services through modern and intuitive mobile apps enables seamless experiences for employees and customers. With the Now Platform® Tokyo release, we continued to invest in our mobile platform with a focus on meeting users where they are and helping an increasingly distributed workforce stay engaged and productive. 

 

Best-in-Class Mobile for Field Service Agents 

In the Tokyo release, our goal was to provide a best-in-class mobile experience for field service teams. With that in mind, ServiceNow® Mobile Agent received a series of enhancements to make it easy for service and support agents to triage, act on, and resolve requests on the go. It starts with enhanced Mobile offline support that enables agents to now create, modify, and view records in the mobile app without having to sync with the online instance. Additionally, administrators can now also choose reference fields to make available when offline. Lastly, we even improved the performance of data downloads to the mobile app. 

It's common for technicians to have stops at multiple work locations on a given day. To make their jobs easier, we’ve enhanced the integrated mapping capability to show all points of interest (POIs) in a single map or list view which they can easily toggle between.  

Finally, technicians often need to capture visual details during service calls through videos and pictures that previously had to be uploaded to the mobile app one at a time. In the Tokyo release, we’re introducing enhanced multimedia file uploading that allows agents to simultaneously upload multiple multimedia files to the activity stream.

Adaptive Authentication for Mobile Devices 

In a world where more and more mobile devices are being used to access corporate, it’s imperative that these mobile devices are properly secured and authenticated to facilitate increased user productivity, regardless of physical location. In the Tokyo release, we’re introducing Adaptive authentication for mobile devices that gives users fast and secure access to their ServiceNow instances when using a registered, trusted mobile device no matter where they’re located. 

This new capability uses contextual authentication to help overcome the traditional mobile device security and vulnerability challenges. Our solution helps ensure that IT teams can operationally simplify how they deploy and maintain mobile devices across the network, without creating any identity-related security compromises. It’s a win-win for IT and mobile users.
