Connect the world of DevOps to the work in ServiceNow® - deliver with speed and safety

In the Rome release, we repackaged the ServiceNow DevOps capability for Insights and Change Automation and made it a part of ITSM Professional and ITSM Enterprise. The capability is still delivered through the ServiceNow Store and the key application to install is now called "ServiceNow DevOps Change Velocity". Now it is a part of ITSM Pro meaning many ServiceNow Customers already have entitlement to this capability so check out what's new in the San Diego release timeframe:

Manual change traceability

It takes some planning to fully integrate DevOps tools with ServiceNow for the purpose of automating change management requests. For example, it might include some modifications to pipelines and some process changes. So how do you demonstrate the value of automating change requests before going through the work of fully implementing it? The answer is to make it easy to use DevOps data from common development pipeline tools with existing change processes. This is ideal where you might already be asking dev teams to log in to ServiceNow and create change tickets. This enhancement will make it simple to define a connection between important pipeline information such as artifact or version data and change requests. Then you can use the data in an existing change process and have it available to enhance downstream reporting and problem determination.

Import historical pipeline data

In addition to the change traceability. This release makes it simple to deploy the connection between DevOps teams and ServiceNow to import elements like Work Items, Commits, Test Summaries and Packages from existing teams. You'll start to gain insights on pipelines immediately using historical data instead of performing a full integration, or only having the data from the time of the first integration taking place. As we're just importing historical data you can provide immediate value with no impact to developers (there's no need to alter pipelines or require change control to use the data in reporting).

System Health Dashboard

As the range of integrations grows to support automated DevOps changes, reporting, and auditing, the maintenance of that infrastructure risks creating its own problems – such as a password expiring on a connected resource. This dashboard makes it simple for administrators to understand the current state and reduce issues that could arise around the connection from DevOps tools and ITSM Pro DevOps Change.

Partnerships and integrations

Connecting to the tools you already use helps to increase the value you obtain by connecting DevOps teams to the work in ServiceNow. You can filter in the ServiceNow Store for 'DevOps tool integrations & APIs' or search based on the name of the tool you wish to connect. We have many integrations that are being added rapidly through the Innovation Lab. Innovation Lab integrations don't yet have full ServiceNow support but are available for you to try in your environment. A great recent example of this type of integration is JFrog Artifactory - check it out here!
