What's new in Quebec for Mobile

Our teams have been working hard to make our mobile-first experiences more flexible, customizable, and consumer like. In Quebec we’ve broken out our enhancements into three categories: Mobile Experience, Mobile Agent, and Mobile Developer Tools. Let’s do a quick rundown of the highlights!


We'll kick things off with Mobile Experience Enhancements, which enrich mobile experiences with consumer grade capabilities ​you'd expect to find on your personal device.

AI Search, Deeplink, and Card Actions

AI Search - Expect AI driven, personalized, and actionable results like you’d find with your favorite search engine. AI Search is smart and intuitive search solution across people, places, apps, and catalogs. Alongside the desktop release of the feature in Quebec, AI Search is a human-like search experience that has been extended to be completely native on our Mobile apps.

Deeplinking - Alleviate the time-consuming exercise of flipping back and forth between apps to find the right field in your external app, by having the right screen and data open automatically. With deeplinking simply tap on a link to an external app and seamlessly transition to it with all important and relevant context coming with you. The best part is admins can fully customize and manage deeplinking through a dynamic allow-list as well as configure the appropriate contextual parameters to be passed on.

Card Actions – Start making quick and snappy approvals or rejections right from a card. Avoid drilling down into each item and get work done quicker with dynamic on-card actions prompts. Configurable by admins to meet user requirements, card actions aim to increase adoption of mobile in a user’s workflow and completion rates of assigned tasks.

Find these features in both the Now Mobile and Mobile Agent Quebec releases (AI Search will require custom configuration for Mobile Agent). Give your agents the tools and experiences they need to effectively get work done no matter the regardless of local or connectivity. Our suite of Mobile Agent enhancements aim to do just that that with tools to boost productivity and empower self-service no matter where they are.

Saved Views, Field Service Questionnaires, Native Knowledge Articles

Saved Views* - Have screens or mobile views you always navigate to? Start saving them to your favorites,  accessible in both online and offline modes. Your saved views can have applied filters and are able to be sorted alphabetically, by last viewed, or last saved. Get quicker access to the information you need, when you need it. 

Field Service Questionnaires** - Have field agents submit necessary information on the spot in a consumer grade native survey. Support for step by step questions for field service agents to view and complete online or offline. Easily create a survey experience and gather critical information from field agents using Field Service Managements.

Native Knowledge Articles - With users on the move, connections can vary but the need for critical knowledge articles will not. Ensure agents have the proper tools and information at all times by saving knowledge articles on their device. Natively access and save critical knowledge articles with rich formatting and media in both online and offline modes.

Incremental Offline – In the next evolution of our offline capabilities, incremental offline updates caches automatically when connected to capture changes made in the app or in the background while offline.

In Quebec both Saved Views and Native Knowledge articles are available on both Mobile Agent and Now Mobile apps. For more information please see the Mobile Release notes.

*Views saved in Mobile Classic do not migrate nor do desktop favorites migrate into our mobile apps. Users will need to bookmark favorite screens once the feature is enabled on either Mobile Agent or Now Mobile apps.

**An active Field Service Management license will be required to employ Field Service Questionnaires.

Our final category includes a number of enhancements to the Mobile developer tools. Mobile developers can expect better experiences and more functionality to easily configure and build apps.

Mobile Card Builder

 

Mobile Card Builder* – Cards are one of the simplest and most effective way for mobile users to get work done. With Mobile Card Builder, we've redefined the building experience and made it easy to create and customize native cards. Use these tailored cards to display information most relevant to your users and their use cases. Create custom cards and templates with presets and drag-and-drop individual components in an intuitive designer. Cards can be used to display record information from the following places:

  • Applet Launcher item sections
  • Calendar applets
  • Form applets
  • Genius search results
  • List applets
  • Map applets

Mobile UI Rules – Developers have a much easier and wider array of abilities to modify mobile UI. Although a little more niche, new UI customization tools simplify the building and configuring with those employing nonstandard use cases. This includes the ability to hide or show data, make mandatory and read-only fields, apply field value calculations, and apply UI styling to UI elements. Currently, client scripting is limited, but please see the product documentation for more information.

Impersonate User – To finish off, we have a much-requested enhancement finally being made available in user impersonation. Admins have the ability to impersonate any user on their instance(s) and easily test mobile access and any privileges.

*Mobile Card Builder will be a free plugin available in the ServiceNow Store.
