What’s new in the San Diego release for Workplace Service Delivery?

Organizations continue to embrace digital transformation to enable employees to thrive under new flexible work arrangements.  In the San Diego release, ServiceNow® Workplace Service Delivery and Safe Workplace solutions offers a wide range of new features and capabilities to connect employees to the workplace and enable workplace teams in meaningful ways.

With the San Diego release, Workplace Service Delivery including Safe Workplace enhances on its abilities to provide a multi-channel, mobile-enabled solution for employees and the workplace that can also be connected across other departmental solutions such as IT, HR, and Legal.

Three core challenges we aimed to address with the San Diego release of Workplace Service Delivery including Safe Workplace.

  1. Supporting a new hybrid workforce
  1. Designing and managing evolving workspaces
  1. Managing a safe and efficient workplace

Workplace Reservation Management enhancements

As the office becomes an event center for in-person collaboration and company town halls, many events will involve teams spread across hybrid work environments.  In the San Diego release, new group reservation capabilities make it easy to book reservations on behalf of team members and create reservations across multiple locations at once.  Employees can download reservations to their calendar, share the reservation itinerary, and add a service request for specific room configurations. All the innovations in the Workplace Reservation Management application make the reservation process seamless and intuitive for employees.

Workplace Space Mapping enhancements

Many employees joining you on-site may have been hired in the past two years, meaning they are unfamiliar with the office space and layout. New proximity-based reservation capabilities make it easy for your employees to find and reserve spaces near colleagues when they prioritize being in-person for their collaboration.  With map-based reservation experience, it is important to provide intuitive filters for what part of the office the employee is viewing. Enhanced clarity of the floor map is brought to this release with a new drop-down selection to view floors, identify available spaces on that floor, and even includes a customizable color legend that can be dragged and moved around the screen for easier viewing.

Vaccination Status enhancements

Another critical piece of returning to in-person work is helping employees feel safe and supported in the workplace. ServiceNow recently announced an integration with The Commons Project as well as Azure for vaccine card verification. In addition, admins and managers can now approve employee submissions for vaccine exemptions, reports, and test record submissions all from a unified portal. As regulations continue to evolve and create complex challenges, enhancements also allow employers to track boosters and send consent forms to their employees.

Workplace Service Delivery for mobile enhancements

Finally, as hybrid work becomes the norm, it’s important to meet employees where and how they work, including on their phones.  The mobile reservation experience has made it easier than ever to reserve spaces using mobile devices and will automatically propose a space for employees to reserve, or prompt them with additional reservation options to choose from. Employees can navigate offices with mobile wayfinding and proximity-based reservations make it easier than ever to reserve spaces near one of their colleagues. Once it’s all said and done, the employee can then choose to share the reservation itinerary, or simply download it to their calendar.

Key takeaways

Providing flexible, digital workplace experiences allows employees to thrive in their organization - and the new world of work. The hybrid workforce has come to expect simplicity and flexibility to get work done on the move. And as the workplace has become a destination for collaboration and brainstorming, providing employees with the ability to use interactive floor maps to find what they are looking for, reserve spaces near colleagues, and navigate throughout the workplace with ease, will have benefits spanning time, efficiency and increased collaboration.  And by making work accessible for employees on any device, processes become frictionless for teams and transparent to leaders.
