CMS vs Service Portal in Helsinki

Hello,

I'm new to ServiceNow. As Service Portal has been introduced in Helsinki release I'd like to know key differences between both with pros and cons.

Thanks for your help!!!

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

- Is ServicePortal a replacement of CMS?

Replacement? CMS isn't going anywhere and will be supported for quite some time. Service Portal is more like "the next generation"

- When should go for CMS instead of ServicePortal?

I would recommend starting all new projects on Service Portal for easier maintainability going forward.

- Is there any difference between these two for end user?

A responsive interface (less clicking 'submit') to make things happen. Better performance. Consistent experience throughout the app. Those are the big ones.

Hi Arayn,

Short answer:

CMS - legacy. Drag-n-drop for some. Mostly server side processing. Potentially Jelly customizations)

ServicePortal - modern. Drag-n-drop for some. Ability to build responsive AngularJS widgets and applications.
