Is Employee Center going to replace Service Portal?

Hi everyone,

My question is as per the topic. I've heard some rumors that Employee Center may replace Service Portal in the near future and that it will bring together both ITSM and HR functionalities to make one portal for everything. 

Does anyone know if this is true?

Hi, Yes that’s what I’ve heard from ServiceNow. There will be two options, employee center (free) and employee center pro (license). I’ve also heard they will provide migration option from service portal to employee center. /Markus

ServicePortal will not disappear but Employee Center will be available as an improved portal with a more employee centric focus. it will be available as a store download and as Markus mentioned EC will be free and EC Pro will require a licence.

Hello @Oyvind is this still true? SN will not be deprecating ITSM Service Portal in lieu of EC? I was told recently by someone they are deprecating portal support to push everyone to EC and EC PRO. I want to make sure I have the most accurate information. thank you!

Hi Julia,

I'm not sure where you got that info but the technology Service Portal is not being planned to be depreciated. In fact Employee Center is built on the service portal technology.

Rather it is the /sp portal which used to be shipped as the standard portal that won't get ny noticeable investment.
