Short URL's for Linking to KB Articles. <insntance>.service-now.com/KB02955

Hi,

I was wandering around, and found this from Ohio University:

THE QUESTION IS.. HOW TO IMPLEMENT THIS?

The OCIO web system supports two features to simplify the sharing and utilization of Knowledge Base articles and linking to them:

  • Search by Article ID: The Help & Support page of the OCIO website displays a second search field in the Knowledge Base search widget. This field takes an article ID (either number only or in the format KB#####) and opens the corresponding article.

Either technique can be used when linking to a specific Knowledge Base Article or when providing a customer with a website for more information. This will allow a customer to use http://ocio.osu.edu/KB02955 instead of https://osuitsm.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB02955

Hi Pedro,

I'm not clear. Were you looking to implement this on the OCIO site or something similar in ServiceNow?

Two thoughts come to mind in ServiceNow.

Option 1: Navigating by URL - ServiceNow Wiki (tinyurl support)

Option 2: Processors

Hi Chuck,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Yeah I would like to do the same on our instances. Something like:

<instance>.service-now.com/KB1234

<instance>.service-now.com/INC1234

<instance>.service-now.com/CHG1234

So Im guessing this should work with Tiny URLs

ill have a look into that

Hi Chuck,

After some investigation, I found those Processors quite useful, but maybe not for what I would like to achieve.

As for TinyUrls, I think its not exactly what we want.

I will leave this aside for now

Will comeback later

Thanks

So how did you get this to work?

Thanks,

Jack
