Using font awesome icon not available in service portal glyphs

I found the current stock glyphs did not contain the full list of font awesome v4.7 when making an instance of icon link. Is it possible to clone the icon link and modify it a bit to include below CSS

<link rel="stylesheet" href="path/to/font-awesome/css/font-awesome.min.css">

Then use option schema to define the font awesome icon I want to use?

Even I want to update the font awesome to v7, but not sure how to achieve the latest icons.

Yes you can do that. And you can even update to v5 that way but beware. Including the script will affect the entire page even if the link is only included in a widget. Since some icons have been renamed this could "break" the page in terms of icons displayed.
