New user question concerning operational_status and install_status

What is the difference between cmdb_ci.operational_status and cmdb_ci.install_status?   Are both really necessary?

This topic may have been addressed before; if so, sorry for repeating it and if that is the case can someone point me to the answer.

Install Status is the status about the installation of the CI. For example:   Installed, Pending Installed, Retired, etc

Operational Status is more about the operation: Operational, Repair in Progress, DR

They are not both necessary in most cases. I see Install Status mostly.

Is this still the case with Helsinki?

Do all CIs need to have both an Operational and Install Status?   It seems only Install Status synchronizes to the Asset Statue
