Data source is your original data. It determines if your information is coming from an Excel spreadsheet, JDBC connection, rest API in, or somewhere else. It also defines a staging table, also known as an import set. The transform map associates import set table to the target table. It also defines field mappings and any script that should be run during the transform process.
The whole process starts out by defining a data source. you can also put a schedule on it to say "run this data source nightly", for example.

Hi,
Datasource is retrieval method for storing data from various forms (Files as Attachment, JDBC, LDAP etc.) & store data in temporary table/staging table. Now, transform map is used to map data stored in staging table to permanent/target table.
Thanks,
